Home Page. Trips To Germany. Below are a few pictures and a little narrative from some of our recent trips. If spontaniety keeps you young, then maybe Gwyn and I aren't aging as fast as we feel some days. With vacation to take, Gwyn had scheduled the week of September the 9th off, and "bonused" herself Friday the 7th. After breakfast on the 7th, as we planned for our weekend in the mountains, Gwyn checked e-mail and USAir was making another offer we couldn't refuse.
Booked the flight Friday morning, went to the mountains Friday after lunch, returned home late Saturday and flew to Germany on Sunday! Arrived Frankfurt at a. Dinner with Zeynep and her sister Guli, off for a good nights rest, then a short visit with Johannes Going back to Wurzburg brought back memories of our former time in the city. We wondered through the Residenzplatz with Johannes and Andrea and enjoyed the beautiful gardens, which were just two blocks from where we lived in Tuesday we were off to Neiderstetten to visit with Markus and his family who are so gracious to us!
We kept up with the news but also continued our vacation with "day trips" to Mannheim to visit the University of Mannheim that Markus attended , Heidleburg to visit the famous castle , Ansbach to visit the Schreiber family and Waldbrunn to meet and visit with Jasmin's parents, Brigitte and Bernd.
We returned home on September the 17th as planned, only delayed an hour or two due to increased security at the airport. Germany - October Racing around Germany!
Although the calendar said I was gone three weeks, it felt like just a week! WOW what a great trip, only me to worry about most of the time so I could kind of go and do as I pleased. I arrived Frankfurt around in the morning and within two hours I was through the airport and on a train to Gummersbach to hook up with Markus for the weekend. Markus was working out of the office in Gummersbach, just minutes northeast of Koln.
