The Prince and Princess of Wales have reportedly taken their children to Mustique for the half term break. For some, February half term means cellophane-wrapped cheese sandwiches on a windy beach, followed by a brisk walk and crumpets by the fire. For the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children, it means white sands, azure waters and total seclusion, courtesy of a tropical paradise that caters to royals , aristos and the firmly upper-crust: Mustique.
It's said that Prince William and Kate have jetted off to the exclusive island with Prince George , Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis for a week of well-deserved rest and relaxation. Mustique is a favourite holiday spot for the family, no doubt because of the extensive privacy it offers: the island operates a strict no-fly zone ideal to protect one from prying eyes and there's just one commercial hotel, with moneyed clientele typically preferring secluded villas for their getaways.
No wonder Kate and William first came here in , before they were married, and have since returned multiple times. Mustique has long been a favourite destination for the rich, famous and aristocratic, thanks to its seclusion and emphasis on privacy. Exactly where the Waleses are staying is unknown, but it's likely they've returned to the light and airy Villa Antilles, which they rented in A sprawling, luxury holiday home with five bedrooms and a 60ft infinity pool, the property boasts glorious views out to neighbouring islands of Saint Vincent and Bequila.
Although it's certainly a steep price, the attention to detail here is second to none. A dedicated team of staff β including a private chef, butler and housekeeper β will tend to the family's every need during their stay, while every guest is registered with a specialist security team to ensure maximum security.
Of course, there's a chance the Wales family have opted for one of their other favourite villas on the island. They previously stayed at the three-bedroom Aurora House , which has an enormous, light-filled drawing room, an expansive terrace and pool. They've also been known to go for Villa Hibiscus, which is owned by Kate's family friends, John and Belle Robinson β owners of the Jigsaw fashion chain, who are now separated.
