Skedzuhn at b-tu. Alexandra Skedzuhn-Safir studied the restoration of stone and ceramics at the Instituto per ll'Arte e il Restauro in Florence, and worked on local restoration projects for several years. Her PhD in heritage studies focused on the topography of prostitution in 19th century Florence and the cultural significance of historic brothels. Her interests in research and teaching are in marginalisation in heritage discourse, the inherent conflict between restoration of historic fabric and value preservation, and the interpretation of heritage.
In her post-doctoral project, she is focussing on olfactory perception and emotions in heritage discourse. Until , she was a long-standing member of the NGO Achi Association, which is dedicated to the preservation of Buddhist built heritage in Ladakh.
