Rows of beds are presented on a secluded floors meant to house homeless women in Trenton. The Rescue Mission of Trenton provides a shelter for individuals facing homelessness in the city. But the facility that houses inmates and parolees has caught the attention of the state. At the end of last month, two former workers and a then-employee at the Rescue Mission told The Trentonian in an interview that two female staff members engaged in inappropriate relations with clients over the past year.
The trio of workers who spoke to The Trentonian said the two female staff members were no longer employed at the Rescue Mission. State Parole Board Chairman James Plousis did not return a message seeking comment about the investigation.
Fraser referred any specific information on the Rescue Mission case to his supervisor, who declined comment when reached by phone. Criminally, New Jersey has a sexual contact law on the books that protects victims inappropriately touched by an individual in a supervisory or disciplinary role.
In addition to the alleged sexual contact, the trio of former and current employees complained of staffing concerns, rodent infestations, a high-turnover rate of workers and an unsafe working environment at the Rescue Mission.
