First Light deliver domestic abuse and sexual violence advice and support services across Cornwall, Devon, Plymouth and Wiltshire.
First Light is an independent service that exists to help anyone who is experiencing or has experienced sexual abuse or domestic violence, regardless of age, gender, or sexual orientation. It provides practical, non-judgemental support, advice and protection for individuals and families in the Plymouth area, including confidential advice, one-to-one and group support sessions.
We have helped transform the lives of thousands of women and their children. Today we continue to support women in recovery and strive for the best outcomes for women and their children. This could include: addictions, mental wellbeing, health, criminogenic behaviours, domestic abuse and social isolation.
The Trusts safeguarding team is a Think Family service, we are a dedicated team who support both staff and service users. We work closely with the liaison services based within the Trust to support patients with complex safeguarding and social, healthcare needs.
There are additional specialists working within the team supporting those who are homeless, victims of Domestic Abuse and who may require independent advocacy services. Working with children, communities, local authorities, and a wide range of other agencies and stakeholders, we aim for new ways of working tailored to local context, capacity, priorities and circumstances.
