Sonography is used to evaluate organs and tissue in many areas of the body. These specialties include vascular, obstetrics, gynecology, urology, and abdominal. A sonographer obtains the image necessary for a physician to diagnose and treat the patient.
At Midland College, an Associate of Applied Science for Sonography prepares you to work in entry-level positions in hospitals and other health care facilities through hands-on laboratory practice and a variety of clinical rotations. Students to learn how to use high-frequency sound waves to produce images needed for assessment and diagnosis of various medical conditions.
Schedule an Appointment. Courses are completed in four week academic semesters and one week summer session. Sonography is a full-time program. Sonography classes will begin in the fall semester August of every year. Courses consist of class, lab, and clinical rotations. Due to clinical availability, the class size is limited. Travel to clinical sites is required. The sonography program is a competitive admission program. Therefore, not all applicants are admitted. Only completed applications will be accepted.
