WTXL - A woman has been arrested after police say she sex trafficked a mentally handicapped child throughout Tallahassee. Alesha Marie McBride, 33, was taken into custody Tuesday by the Tallahassee Police Department for her role in the child performing sexual acts with men for money. According to court documents, McBride participated in the exploitation of the victim, accepted the money gained from such exploitation, shared drug use with the year-old victim, and did not take measures to protect the victim from exploitation.
Documents say officers became aware of the sexually explicit photos of the child victim on Nov. That meeting resulted in the arrest of a man who admitting to driving the victim to a hotel to meet an adult man for sex in exchange for money.
Investigators say the Department of Children and Families was involved in the case and was made investigators aware that McBride had been accused of prostituting the victim before, though the victim never said anything about it. The victim told investigators she was commercially trafficked on at least one website by at least two traffickers. She said the traffickers made her perform sexual acts with men and kept most of the money. In one instance, the victim said that she was held by one trafficker for approximately two weeks.
When investigators spoke to McBride, she admitted to picking up and dropping off the thenyear-old child at hotels early in the morning on multiple occasions. McBride told investigators that she knew the child was having sex for money and received money from the victim more than ten times, but claimed where the money was coming from "was not what was on her mind.
Court documents say McBride didn't report the victim missing on many occasions and frequently covered for the victim and lied to law enforcement. Based on her participation in the child's prostitution, McBride was arrested for commercial human trafficking of a juvenile who is mentally incapacitated, deriving support from the prostitution of a juvenile and child neglect.
