Dr Said Alzebda was a highly regarded student in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering at the University of Nottingham and began a Qur'an school in the local community in Nottingham. He started the Technology Incubator Hub with two employees. It then grew to become the biggest technology hub in Palestine. UCASTI provided a dynamic and collaborative environment, offering mentorship, skill development, funding opportunities, networking events, and market access support to propel startups toward success.
Hundred of young entrepreneurs and researchers benefited from the hub. His success story led the board of trustees of UCAS University to persuade him to become the president of the University. He became the youngest president of any University in Palestine. During his presidency, in less than 3 years, the number of students had doubled. UCAS opened new modern courses, attracting high profile academics, opening new labs, and renovating the university facilities. On 31 December , Said, his wife Ikram Ghanem, also an alumna of the university, and their 3 children Ezzedine, Intisar and Sumaya were all killed in the ongoing conflict in Israel and Gaza.
A great loss to humanity that will never be forgotten by those who are blessed to have known them. This brief obituary has been kindly supplied by colleagues friends of Dr Alzebda. Emma became ill during her finals and was subsequently diagnosed with an adult-onset genetic condition called mitochondrial disease.
Just before she died, Emma was instrumental in setting up a charity www. Ikram Ghanem was born in June and was killed on 31st December in the ongoing conflict in Israel and Gaza, along with her husband, Said A.
