I didn't try it but the way it's structured - I'm pretty sure you can never get any of the companions: -- Don't wake Shadowheart on the beach and walk away -- Don't go to Astarion's place and don't talk to him -- Don't pull Gale out of the rune, ignore it -- Don't talk to Wyll in the Grove -- Skip the location where Lae'zel is caged and don't go to the Mountain Pass -- Skip Karlah's location and tollhouse entirely -- Kill Minthara as usual -- Skip Halsin's quest by just not talking to the sleeping soldier -- Don't ask Jaheira to join So - what happens then?
Assuming you can get through all the fights, will the story break? What happens when you approach the goblin camp without finding Shadowheart for instance, the artifact is still with her, so you won't get its protection?

Aside from the book in the tower. Which is that I just can't complete the side quest, 12 anyway so not a big deal. I think that bit of dialog to "let gale know" is a bug. In the beginning of Act III, there's a cat you see on a rooftop that triggers the remark "That look's like Gale's cat" We hated Gale on our run, so we didn't bother with him after we got Minthara.
