It was a turbulent week for Borussia Dortmund. On Wednesday, the club announced that manager Jurgen Klopp would not be returning for the season. It was Klopp's own decision to leave the club , as he didn't feel like he was the right man to successfully build Dortmund's future.
It was a piece of news that shocked the whole club and BVB fans worldwide. The club announced that Tuchel will take over on the July 1 and will be handed a three-year contract. Dortmund also said that they would not give any further statement on the topic until the current season has ended.
Tuchel will be presented the week after the season has ended. BVB have made everything right by announcing the news as soon as possible.
It kills of a lot of uncertainty and gives club and players time to plan ahead for the new season. It's also for the best to otherwise treat the whole topic with silence, as the focus must stay on the current season. The news hardly came as a surprise. Tuchel's yearlong sabbatical after quitting at Mainz was running out and the much-courted coach was looking for a new job for the following season.
Klopp announcing his departure wasn't the only news on Wednesday. Hamburger Sport Verein also presented a new coach, Bruno Labbadia. HSV sporting director Dietmar Beiersdorfer revealed at Labbadia's introductory news conference that negotiations with Tuchel fell through on Monday.
