Discover cities with unconditional charm and taste regional foods and wine as you cruise aboard your own private barge. This cultural and gourmet adventure will introduce you to history, the birthplace of photography, and gorgeous vistas. All tours are completely customizable. Today we transfer to the airport for our overnight flight to Dijon, France.
Note: The airport location and airline will be confirmed no sooner than nine months before departure. Upon arrival in Dijon , we will embark on a panoramic tour of the city. Dijon was a place of tremendous wealth and power throughout history, and it was considered one of the great European centers of art, learning, and science. The Dijon architecture is impressive and varied, though one feature regularly stands out — the polychrome-tiled roofs that were once a symbol of status.
These roofs are works of art, with tiles glazed in terracotta, green, yellow, and black and arranged in unique geometric patterns. The afternoon is yours to explore the city. Visit one of the many museums dedicated to art and history, stroll through the botanical gardens, or wander the historic city center that boasts excellent food, fine wine, and great shopping!
Tonight we will gather to share stories of our day and enjoy a delicious dinner. After settling into our comfortable cabins, we will be introduced to the crew at a welcome cocktail reception with dinner to follow. This morning we will leave by coach to Nolay to hike to the Cirque du Bout du Monde , a Natura natural site. There we will admire the imposing chalk cliffs carved by the river Cozanne, leaving behind a blind valley in which a towering waterfall formed.
The panoramic views of the vineyards and surrounding peaks and valleys are amazing! After returning to our barge, the boat will cruise toward Chagny. Relax on the sun deck with a drink in hand or grab a bike and follow along the banks of the Doubs River.
