There was a meeting with Dr Weise the day before the operation, to explain exactly what to expect both for the operation itself, and afterwards. The operation itself went very well and I was able and instructed to walk the same afternoon. I was in some discomfort for a few days after the operation - not continuously, but it peaked after the aneasthetic and painkillers had worn off - but this quickly subsided after a few days and by the end of the second week the pain had gone completely.
It is now just over 6 weeks since the operation and there is still a little swelling where the surgery took place, but this is gradually reducing and the scar is also healing nicely. In terms of participating in sports and physical activities I feel back to normal, although I am going to be careful for a while to make sure I don't put the site under undue stress.
