Winter weather returns to western Washington this weekend with heavy mountain snow and the chance of lowland snow for parts of the region. SEATTLE β A pimp who was involved in a rolling shootout with an Uber driver in an attempt to recapture one of the girls he was selling in sex trafficking in Seattle will spend just shy of 15 years in prison on state charges, a judge ruled Friday afternoon.
Winston Burt, 32, of California, also known as "Dice Capone'" pleaded guilty to multiple counts of assault, drive-by shooting, and unlawful imprisonment in King County Superior Court. Burt has also pleaded guilty to federal charges of sex trafficking and is expected to be sentenced in that case next year.
Prosecutors described Burt in court as a violent pimp who brought women to Seattle from other states to sell them for sex on Aurora Avenue. In November , Burt kicked, punched, and pistol-whipped a year-old woman after she indicated she wanted to stop working for him, according to court records. Burt then held the woman inside a rental home in South Seattle and forced her to strip to her underwear.
Three days later, the woman jumped out of a third-story window in an attempt to escape from Burt. Court filings show Burt and two other women who worked for him forced the victim into a car, then drove towards a motel in north Seattle. The victim jumped out of the car in her underwear and began asking for help from passing drivers. A police report says an Uber driver saw the woman in distress and allowed her to get in his van.
Burt then began shooting at the Uber driver, who was armed and shot back at Burt, according to charging documents. Nobody was hurt in the gun battle and the Uber driver managed to get away from Burt and sought help from the Washington State Patrol.
