The German Consulate in Tbilisi, Georgia announced that they have temporarily lifted the requirement for qualified Russian nationals to provide evidence of 6 months residence in Georgia. The exemption is only applicable to applications for a long-term D visa in certain categories. The temporary exemption also applies to core family member of eligible Russian nationals applying for family reunification visas based on their relationship with the Russian national.
Eligible core family members include spouse, civil partners and minor children. This exemption is a welcome relief to Russian nationals who are looking to relocate to Germany for work purposes.
The exemption is a temporary measure and can be withdrawn with little or no notice. Applicants who meet the above requirements and are in a position to submit the application, is advised to do so as soon as possible.
