We’ve been selling these ‘wiches since February at pop-ups all over downtown. I love the idea of presenting something new and exciting in a comfortable shape, and I can’t wait for you to try one of our locally grown and raised masterpieces.

LOCAL FLAVOR
Constructed around 1920, our building was much different than you see it now. A two-story hotel primarily located in Downtown Bakersfield’s Chinatown district, the building was a popular spot until the earthquake of 1952. With the second story partially destroyed, the one-story building we’re familiar with now was left by the earthquake.
In the 1960s, Stein Bros began to acquire parts of the building, eventually owning half the building (amounting to half a block and 15,000 square feet). At that time, districting turned that area into what was essentially Porn and Pawn as it was just outside of the business district of downtown. Our building had Bakersfield’s largest pawn shop (which Radio’s unit was storage for), selling so many guns and guitars that the owner would wait until all the other pawn shop owners went home for the day to throw out the boxes because he didn’t want the other owners to know just how much he was selling. The building also housed a corner porn theater and adult store (which is where our theater seats come from *wink*)
Eventually, the building came to sit empty. About thirty years later, Radio comes in!
